User Accounts

User Accounts and Passwords

Windows operating systems require that users and passwords be established for every user that will either use that particular machine or connect to one of its shared resources (such as a folder or printer ).  With the PrISM system, the "users" should be set up as the following:

For "manager" class machines (MANAGER1, MANAGER2, etc.) the user name should be "MANAGER" and the password should be "manager2000" (no quotes).

For "station" class machines (POS1, POS2, etc.) the user name should be "POS" and the password should be "pos2000" (no quotes).

Specifying user accounts and passwords may differ slightly between various Windows operating systems.  Please refer to your operating system's online help for instructions.  While the various setup procedures may differ, each user account should be set up with the following parameters:

  1. Users should not be able to change their passwords.

  2. The user passwords should never expire.

  3. It is recommended that each station log in automatically with its respective user name.

Note: In order for the PrISM system to function properly, all users must be configured on all machines; for example, the MANAGER1 computer should log into Windows as "MANAGER", but the "POS" user must be configured on it as well in order for the stations to communicate with it properly.
