Modifier Lists

A Modifier list is a list of items that generally alter how an item is prepared.  Typical Modifier lists would be toppings, cooking instructions, or specialty items.  Selecting Modifier Lists allows you to create new lists or modify existing lists within the system.

List Type

Cooking Instruction

If the Modifier list is cooking instructions, such as meat temperatures on a hamburger, check this box.  These cooking instructions will show up in red on the order screen ticket.  They can also print in red on the kitchen ticket if "Print Red at Kitchen" is selected for the list item.

Specialty

If the Modifier list items are specialty items, check this box.  An example of a specialty item would be "Meat Lover's Pizza".  A Specialty item is similar to a modifier with the exception that you may define included items for the specialty.

Topping

Choose this option if this modifier list consists of toppings.

Coupon List

Choose this option if this modifier list consists of "smart" coupons.  Smart Coupons are a legacy feature, used in menus that were set up before Advanced Coupons were available.  They are not used in new menus.

Auto Show

If this option is selected, the modifier list will automatically be displayed on the ordering screen when a menu item that is using this specific list is selected.  If this is not selected, the order taker must press the Modify button to access the list.

Allow Substitutions

Selecting this option will allow you to substitute a modifier, or topping, that is defined as included on the menu item with another topping at no extra charge.
