Computer Name and Workgroup

In the local area network environment that serves as the backbone for the PrISM system, each station in that network must be assigned a specific, unique name as well as a global workgroup to which the station belongs.  This ensures that all stations in your system are able to communicate effectively with each other.

Specifying the computer name and workgroup may differ slightly between various Windows operating systems. Please refer to your operating system's online help for instructions on specifying the computer name and workgroup.

All computers should be members of the "WORKGROUP" workgroup.

Note: Each station on the local area network must have a unique name. It is highly recommended that the file server be named MANAGER1, and any subsequent workstations be incrementally named POS1, POS2, etc.
